Can my consultant refer me to the Functional Gut Clinic?

Yes, we accept referrals for diagnostics tests from gastroenterologists, surgeons, dieticians etc.

Are the tests you offer covered by insurance companies?

We are fee-assured by all the major private health insurance companies. If you are referred for a test, we will need the name of your insurance company, your membership number and your pre-authorisation number. We will bill your insurance company directly.

What is the referral process?

Once we receive a referral from your consultant, dietician, or yourself, one of our clinicians or GI physiologists will triage it. The referral is then passed to our admin team, who will contact you via email or telephone to arrange either the delivery of a postal kit or an in-clinic appointment.

Can I refer myself for a test?

We accept self-referrals for our breath testing. We do not accept self-referrals for all other testing. However, if you would like to have a consultation with a gastroenterologist, we can organise this for you. They will then be able to decide whether diagnostic testing is required and if so, will refer you to us.

Do the breath testing kits have an expiry date?

The breath test kits come with a substrate inside: Lactulose, Glucose, Lactose, or Fructose. The only component in the kit that can expire is the substrate, which typically has an expiry date of around 18 months. You can order the kit and have it delivered in advance before you plan to complete the test. However, once the test is complete, please make sure to send it back within 7 days.

Where is the Functional Gut Clinic?

Can I pay for a test myself?

Can I get a consultation with the Functional Gut Clinic?

What is the nearest tube station for the London Clinic?

How long will it take to get my results?

We aim to send out all results within five working days of completion of your test. If you have done a postal breath test, this will be five working days from receipt of the test at our lab.

Can I bring anyone with me to my appointment?
