About the Functional Gut Clinic

The fast, friendly way to diagnose your gut problem.

The specialist gut clinic helping everyone take control of their gut health.

When it comes to gastrointestinal tract (GI) problems, too many of us are suffering without the right answers or treatment.

As a gut health clinic we believe that just isn’t good enough and have made it our mission to bring peace of mind to millions by providing fast, accurate diagnosis. Working as a medical resource that complements your GP or consultant, we deliver unrivalled problem-solving at every stage of the gut and digestive system.

We do this by combining the very latest diagnostic technology with a team of dedicated specialists in our specialist gut clinic to offer a trusted, proven and reliable service that swiftly identifies the problem; then connects patients with precisely the right treatment to alleviate symptoms or put things right.

Because we think it’s time that people showed their gut who’s in charge.

How people are referred

We recommend that you are referred to our services by a physician, surgeon, GP, or dietician. If you don’t have a consultant at the moment, we can help put you in touch with one. If you would like to self-refer for testing, you can do so here.

Our high standards

We’re the only gastrointestinal physiology service on the UK to receive an IQIPS (Improving Quality in Physiological Services) accreditation – a standard recognised by GPs and a difficult one to obtain. We’re also inspected by the CQC, the independent regulator. This means we adhere to the highest standards and are independently assessed.

Our history

The Functional Gut Clinic was founded by Dr Anthony Hobson in 2014, in response to a general apathy within healthcare about how people suffering with GI-related conditions were treated. We now have three clinics, in Manchester, London and Cambridge with satellite clinics around the UK.
