What is the study?
We’re looking for people who regularly experience acid reflux symptoms such as heartburn, chest burning, throat irritation or regurgitation (even if you’ve never been diagnosed with reflux).
The study is designed to compare the effectiveness of two different approaches to managing reflux symptoms, and your participation may help shape future treatments for those living with these issues.
Participants may receive up to £420 compensation* and reasonable travel expenses will be covered.
*Compensation may vary depending on attendance

Who can participate?
We’re looking for people who:
Are 18 - 70 years old, male or non-pregnant female.
Live in the UK and can attend appointments at our clinics in Manchester or London
Have reflux or experience reflux-like symptoms
Not previously taken to PPI medication for 28 days for symptoms of gastro-oesophageal disease (GORD)
Not sure if your symptoms count?
If you experience burning, discomfort after meals, acid taste, regurgitation, you may be eligible.
What is involved?
We have designed the study to be as simple and convenient as possible.
You’ll be asked to:
Attend 3 in-person visits at one of our clinics in Manchester or London over a 6 month period
Join 3 virtual appointments from home
Keep a short symptom diary for 5 weeks
Take tests and give samples as guided by our research team
